Here are a few pointers to free software that
pertain to the NIPS collection (as of April 2001).
DjVu plug-in for Windows and Mac and
DjVuLibre plug-in/viewer and command-line tools for Unix
(with source code), to view and print the articles from your web browser.
NOTE: The Unix/Linux versions include compression and decomporession
utilities, as well as a standalone viewer called "djview".
DjVuLibre: Open source
implementation of DjVu with viewers, compressors, decompressors
and utilities for various Unix platforms
(designed and originally written by our old friend
Leon Bottou).
PDF/PS to DjVu conversion utility: this is a shell scripts that uses the
open source DjVu reference library or the commercial command-line
compressor in combination with GhostScript to convert PDF or
PS documents to DjVu.
Any 2 DjVu conversion server: A free conversion server
that allows you to upload documents in just about nay non-proprietary format and have
them converted to DjVu and OCRed.
Bib 2 Web conversion server: upload a BibTeX
file and the corresponding publications in any format, and our server will convert
them to highly compact .ps.gz and .djvu files as well as generate a nice-looking
publication page in HTML.
DjVuSolo:
a simple Windows application for scanning and converting documents to DjVu.
Free for non-commercial use. The Commercial version adds OCR capability.
NOTE: LizardTech has a program to provide the
high-end DjVu compression software free to universities.
